Living Kindfully

Are You Moving the Needle?

I noticed my son cleaning out his room, because he needed a clean environment and an empty desk for his studies. After spending hours cleaning out his room, he finally had time to study. After some time, I saw him napping on his bed. When I enquired about his progress, he told me that he was tired from cleaning the room, he could not study as much as he planned.

Many of us are guilty of having excuses like what my son gave me. For the record, I too am guilty of giving lame excuses. We do all kinds of things by staying busy so that we can avoid things that are important to us. Normally these are the uncomfortable task that would help us to be closer with our goals.

Our goals are made up of many different tasks. Many are easy, but mostly require effort and concentrations. Many of us want the results but not willing to put in the effort to achieve it.

The most common excuse for not reaching our goals is that we are not ready, we need more research, the environment is not ready for us to take action. So we all stayed busy working around the goals but never towards the goals.

Before you start doing anything, ask yourself this question "This task that I am doing now. Am I one step closer to my goal?"
