Living Kindfully

Be the Friend that You want to Have

Every month, I make plans to have drinks with a friends. I do it one-on-one rather than in a group. These gatherings are a lifeline, a way to break free from the constant cycle of work and to-dos. With my friends, we share stories, experiences and making fun of each other. There is a ground rule: no complaining! During each gathering, I try to share at least one thing I have found helpful since our last meeting. It is my way of contributing to the conversation. As far back as I can remember, we've never had a bad time. That's why we rarely miss these appointments. For me, the secret to a long and good friendship is simple: be the kind of friend I would want to have.
