Bonding with my Kids in a Video Game Store
I was at the mall with the family, wife needed to run some errands. My kids decide to kill time by visiting the video games store. I personally do not like the idea of "killing time" as I feel that time is the most precious resource in our lifetime. Nevertheless, I decide to follow my kids to the video game store.
The last time that I touched a video game was in the late 90s. I followed the development of video games but never really dive into it. The games are now designed to be addictive and engaging. So, I made a point to stay away from video games. My kids had a good time showing me the latest greatest. And I appreciate they are willing to share their passion with me. More importantly, I did not complain or gave a lesson on the importance of time.
Their excitement with games is obvious. How they know about games and games developers are through YouTube videos. They even gave me a review of games without even playing on it. Interestingly, they did not want to buy the games, they just enjoy talking about it and watching others playing it.
In those 45 minutes in the video game store, my kids had a good time showing their passion to me. I had a good time trying to understand their passion. I cannot remember most of the things that they told me. But I will always remember their passion and how their eyes glitter when they explained the games to me. I have to say thank you to my wife. I have to invite her for our next visit to the video game store.
