Buy Memories Not Things
I took my family for a short holiday. We went to a town called Hua Hin in Thailand. This is our third visit to this beach town. It is not a luxurious holiday. We stayed in cheap hotel and eat at the road side stalls. Despite the tropical heat and cheap food, the family had a good time. We walked the town and tried the local delicacies. What we all remember are the food and family ties during the trip. It was never the things that we bought or owned. Yet myself included would rather chase for things than memories.
Make a point to buy memories and not things. Memories does not need to be expensive but it lasts a lifetime. It can be bought over a cup of coffee. Sometimes it is free by taking your family to the neighbourhood park for a stroll. Material success is important but never forget those who count on us for emotional support.
