Living Kindfully

Everything Can Be a Lesson

I received a text message from someone whom I care, and the text message felt rude. Millions of thought went through my mind when I saw the message. I thought of retorting the message. Alas, I did not do it.

I told myself there could be a miscommunication, and I am too sensitive towards the message. The person who wrote it meant well, but the message came off as otherwise.

I met the person after a couple of hours later. Everything seems fine. Our conversation is polite and jovial. There were no hints of negative emotion between us. I took the text message the wrong way. I was close to destroying our relationship by saying something that I will regret. We can never unsay the words that we said, so it is better to keep our mouth shut.

Everything can be a lesson. If the person was rude towards you, learn that you can take the high grown by not engaging the person. If the person is polite towards you, learn that you too can be as polite. More importantly, if you have nothing better to say, don't say.

Lessons are everywhere and so are learning opportunities. You just need to watch out for it.
