How Small Decisions Lead to Big Decisions
I limit myself to 4 drinks a week. This is an ironclad rule which I will not violate. If I know I am seeing someone for drinks, I pace myself and maintain my quota. There is no harm if I have an extra drink or two, but it is a slip of discipline. If I allow my discipline to slip. My action may seem harmless at first will snow ball into something serious.
I see my friends for drinks every Monday. Each session, I only have two drinks. Then I start to see them every Thursday as well. The volume of drinking went from 2 drinks a week to 4 drinks a week! Other days I also have a drink at home. It all seems harmless as I was never drunk but I am drinking nearly every night of the week. It started as something small, it is now affecting my health and financially.
This is why certain habits or actions, which seems trivial can lead to disaster. If you have made a decision, stick to it. Do not let the discipline slip. Once you started slipping, you may soon find yourself in a compromised position regretting your actions.
Remember, it is always our small decisions that lead to big decisions.
