Living Kindfully

I am just Buying the Memories

Maybe once a month, I would bring my family including my parents for a nice meal. The budget is slightly higher than usual. Not overly expensive but enough to raise an eyebrow.

Someone asked me why I would do that? My family did not demand for anything expensive. Was I just trying to show off to the family? To the observers, I am buying an expensive meal. For myself, I am buying the memories.

The memory is excitement, because they look forward to a good dining experience. The memory of enjoyment, seeing the family eating what they want. The memory of discussion, discussing what they like about the meal.

The meal did not break the bank. I just have to cut back on a few coffees and few personal lunch. The dining experience brings the family together. That's why, I am not buying a meal but memories of family being together.

Buying nice things brings satisfaction but things break. Buying memories, the memories can last a life time.
