I Reached Out to My Very Sick Friend
In my earlier post, I mentioned a friend who is really sick. I only heard about his illness from his wife, as he did not share the news with me. I could not bring myself to reach out to him. As days passed, I could not wait any longer. Neither of us can afford to wait and waste time.
I reached out to him telling him that I will be praying for him and his family. I did not ask about his illness or how he feels. Despite his illness, I will not treat him differently. This friend has an amazing intellect, I learned so much from him. His body is sick but not the mind. When I reach out to him, I am reaching for his mind. He still has wisdom and ideas to share.
This year I have already received news of 3 friends who got really sick. One of them has already passed on. This is how life remind us to appreciate the days that we have left. Falling sick is a fact of life, but we always have the option to make the best out of it. When I speak to them or even myself, I am speaking to their mind and not their body. The body can decay and wither, inside that body there lives a mind that is resilient and wise.
