Living Kindfully

It is All About The Struggle

I just got back from Tibet. It is a spiritual place. I started my journey at a lower altitude city called Chengdu and slowly drive up to Lhasa. As I head towards Lhasa. I noticed many who are on their way to pilgrimage. They were doing the full-body prostrations. To these pilgrims it is through struggles and suffering where they cleanse their bad karma.

At the temple of Lhasa, I noticed many pilgrims were dirty and tired from prostrations, but all have a satisfying smile. I reached the temple faster and easier. I was tired from my drive, but I doubt I have the same satisfying smile.

Could it be the destination is not the goal? It is the journey that is the goal. It is through hard work and suffering that makes the victory taste sweet. If there is one lesson that I take away from this trip, life is all about the struggle. Our final destination is death. As we all march towards death, we should appreciate the struggles as it tests us and challenge for who we are. Without effort and overcome great obstacles, our victory seems hollow.
