Lessons from Buying Blind Boxes
I dislike blind boxes. To me, blind box is a scam. You pay a premium to buy something that depend on your luck. You may or may not get what you wanted. Many times, these are just overpriced plastic figurines. I refused to buy or gift anyone blind boxes.
I was at the mall and my sister asked me to get some for her kids. Not knowing what to buy, I have to do a video call with her. I was overwhelmed by the choices. During the call, two different persons who stood next to me helped me to select the correct series. They too are fans of the blind box series.
Obviously, I become the coolest uncle because I got my nephew and niece blind boxes that they wanted. They cannot stop telling me how special these figurines are. I also appreciate the fans out there who are helping each other in getting what they want.
My judgement has blinded me the social dynamics of blind boxes. All I see is just the dollar's sign. I may not agree on the business practice, but is there a lesson that I can pick up?
We are entitled to have our own opinion. Can we suspend it for a while so that we can see beyond our limited mindset? What is blinding you now?
