Living Kindfully

Let Your Children Grow Up

Let your children grow up. That's the advice that my wife gave me. I am overly protective of them. I would decide and do everything for the kids. Since 2012, I worked 2 jobs to provide the family. I wanted the best for the family. When I started my business, I fell into hard times. Both my income and savings dropped. I still remember the uncomfortable silence when the family asked for extra money for some unexpected expenses.

I did not want them to suffer like what I did. My over protection has stunned their growth. I have robbed them the chance of facing the hard reality of life. My wife advises me to let the kids explore on their own. If they make a mistake, I am still be around to advice and help them. Each mistake will make them learn and mature. Doing everything for them will not help them to mature.

The very least, I can train and guide them to navigate through life. My success may not translate to their success. They have to explore by themselves. Till the end, knowing that they have matured and know how to navigate through life, I can pass away peacefully.

So, let your children grow up.
