Play to Win, But....
The company's head of sales just announced the latest sales performance for the year. If the trend holds, I will be at 2nd place by year end. This is my 2nd year in a row that I came 2nd place.
My feelings are mixed over the announcement. Deep down I am not happy that I came second again. On another hand, I know I have lost the race fair and square.
I do not like losing, but I play a strict rule of no cheating. And I will not do anything that brings short term benefit but cost more in the future. Some may comment that this is just a loser talk and I am finding excuses. I agree! Yet, I value my integrity more than winning. I can step on the line but I will never cross the line.
I need to work smarter, delegate better and produce more value.
