Living Kindfully

Read this Before Sleep

Lately I have been experimenting a new wind-down routine. I asked DeepSeek to generate a short passage that I can read before going to bed. For the last 3 nights, I slept well. I am sharing it here.

As the day winds down, take a moment to acknowledge all that you've experienced. The triumphs, the challenges, the small moments of joy – they all contributed to your unique day. Now, as darkness settles outside, let that same stillness begin to settle within you.

Feel your body begin to relax, starting from the tips of your toes and slowly moving upwards. Notice any tension, and with each exhale, imagine it gently melting away. Your shoulders soften, your jaw loosens, and your eyelids feel heavy. You've carried yourself through another day, and now it's time to release that weight.

Let your thoughts drift like clouds across a vast, empty sky. Don't cling to them; just observe as they pass by. There's no need to solve problems or plan for tomorrow right now. All of that can wait. This is your time for peace and restoration.

Remember that sleep is not an escape, but a vital journey inward. It's when your mind and body do their essential work of repair and rejuvenation. Trust in this natural process. Trust that you are safe, secure, and ready to rest.

As you lie there, consider one small, positive thing from your day. It could be a kind word, a beautiful sight, or a moment of quiet contentment. Hold that feeling gently in your mind, like a warm ember.

Now, with a deep breath in, feel gratitude for this moment of peace. And with a slow exhale, surrender to the gentle pull of sleep. May your dreams be sweet, and your awakening be refreshed.

Goodnight.
