Simplicity is Difficult
I received a request to source for a scanner that can scan ID cards. The scanner must have an onboard memory that is able to delete itself every 30 days.
I found a few suppliers but they are either overpriced or over engineered. Later that evening, someone asked whether a cheap hand phone would solve the problem?
I was stumped and angry. Stumped because the solution is so simple. Angry at myself that I did not think of it. Why do I have to make things complicated?
Simplicity is difficult. Instead of immediately jumping into solution mode, ask yourself what would be the simplest and most direct solution? Sometimes, the simplest solution is all we need. But it is us that make things complicated.
