Sometimes, the Best Answer Is....
I enjoy exchange emails with Derek Sivers. His emails are always simple, short, precise and insightful. Our latest exchange, we were discussing a topic on how can we teach our children about having enough? He gave me a three-word answer "I don't know".
The first few minutes, I was taken back by his reply. Yet, this is a very profound reply. He could have given me 100 words answer. But he admitted that he did not know. This reply shows his humility.
I do not think I have ever given a three-word answers to anyone. Clearly, I have not conquered my ego and the wanting to show everyone that I have an answer.
Sometimes, the best answer is "I don't know". By admitting this, it is the start of a journey of new discovery.
