Sometimes You Play Better When You are Tired
This weekend, I was invited to play Pickleball again and I make sure I did not make the same mistake. I admit that I am a stubborn person and I do not listen to instruction well. My playing partner told me that my lack of ball control is due to my grip is too tight. I could not comprehend her advice as I try to loosen my grip the paddle slips from my hand.
Instead of listening to her advice, I decided to play with brute force. During the game, I had some good shots and many more bad shots. As the game progresses, my shots begin to improve. Not because I changed my playing style, but I was getting tired. I could not hold the paddle as tight.
As we finished our game, I have a vague idea how I should hold the paddle. Hopefully I can play a better game in the future. This experience is similar to life. We cannot brute force through all our challenges. Eventually we get tired and have to accept what we refuse to accept. If we cannot do something well, we just have to keep playing and listen to the body. Eventually the body tells you what you need to do. In my case, the body stay out of my stubbornness and let me play until I am tired. It is only when I am tired, my body shows me how I should play.
