Living Kindfully

Stop Talking So They Listen

During meals and car ride, I make a point to talk to the family. But I am the one who mostly do the talking. As I look at the rear mirror, the kids are mostly checked out. They are either looking at the phone or looking out of the window. Were they listening? Probably not.

Since I have decided to keep quiet. Instead of telling them stories or lessons. I ask for their opinions and suggestions. When I have to say something, they finally listen.

Nobody likes to hear us talk except ourselves. Our family did not to retort because they respect us, but they choose not to rock the boat. So, when you finally stop talking, they can finally listen.
