Living Kindfully

The Lightness of Having Less

I sat in my friend's amazing car. It is a manual transmission, open top two door car. Both the ride and driving experience was amazing. The cost of maintaining the car is also reasonable.

I feel jealous and I wish I could have the same car. The financial commitment to my family does not allow me to splurge. As I lay down the bed, I think back on the things that I have bought. None of it really brought me true happiness. The feeling of happiness at most lasted about 2 weeks. Will a new car be the same? Probably yes.

Most of happiness and relieve comes from disposing of things or not having things in my life. The house feels cleaner and organised after I have gotten rid of the things that I do not need. Everyone in the house is healthier as we have stopped buying snacks and sugary drinks. Less is more.

I still want the car that I cannot afford but I am also happy that I do not need to worry about the monthly payment. I have to remind myself the lightness of not worrying about debts.
