The Pursue of Success Brought the Best out of Me
I caught up with a friend whom I have not seen for nearly seven years. I sporadically update him via short messages about my life. We finally had a long chat after seven years gap. We mostly talked about my business journey. Through the conversation, I learned more about myself.
The pursue of success has brought out the best of me. I started my business in mid 2020 when Covid-19 was at its peak. In the last five years, I have some minor success. During this period:
I become more resilient. Running my own business, I have more failures than success. Each failure, each rejection is one step nearer to my next deal. Never give up.
I value human interaction. Business deals are made through face-to-face meeting. Hardly ever it is made through emails or online interaction. If the customer cannot see me, means I am not closing that deal.
I protect my reputation at all cost. My reputation walks through the door first before I do. I present and make careful promises. If I make a mistake, I own it and fix it immediately. There will be haters, but they have to hate me on my terms.
My network is my life. I keep in touch with as many people as possible through messages, meetings and phone calls. I will not let my contact go cold for more than three months.
I appreciate my family's patience. I work nearly all the time. I appreciate my family's understanding and patience. Without their support, I would not have reach this far.
I never forget those who helped me. During my darkest time, a few individuals have reach out to me and gave me a hand. I never forget them until I die.
I value learning and knowledge. I have lost business deals because I lack of certain knowledge or information. I have also won businesses because I know more than my competitor. Thus, my learning never stops.
I value clear communication. In my business, clear communication is a must. This is manage customer's expectation. Whether it is writing and speaking, I strive to be better.
