What I Learned from Deep Cleaning My House
Whenever I feel that I have a string bad luck, I would do a quick deep cleaning in my house. I would take out things that I have not used or not functioning. These things are either go into the rubbish bin, recycle bin or donation bin.
The act of cleaning gives me a sense of control. It helps to clear the mind where I do not feel sorry about myself. I see my house as my mind, throwing things out also means clearing out my mind. What we aim should not be more but less. As I gather the things that I do not use anymore, I wondered how much money I have spend in these things? The money could have been better deployed at some other place. When I want to spent money, I have to ask whether I really needed it?
Yet, the more I clean the more things I seem to have. A corner of a room that I have cleared will get filled up quickly by other things. Just like our mind, we have to keep working on our mind by clearing out bad or unproductive thoughts. The emptiness is only temporarily as other idle thoughts would quickly comes back.
Should I continue to clean when things keeps coming back? Yes! With the act of cleaning, we know what we have thrown out. It is the temporarily clarity that cleanse the mind.
If you are feeling down and things are not going your way? Take action by cleaning up your house. You be surprised by the amount of rubbish you have. After each clean up, ask yourself how do you feel about yourself?
