Living Kindfully

What is Your Childhood Dream?

Someone asked me whether it is a good idea to start her own consulting business in cyber security. The company has just retrenched her, and she is in her late fifties. She does not need the money as she has little commitment. Moreover, she has passive income from a cafe that she co-owned.

She was reluctant to give up her professional knowledge in IT security. She admitted that she was just doing it for the money. There is no passion but she is good at it.

I asked about her childhood dream. She said she enjoyed baking and cooking. It was the memories and dream of helping her mum in the kitchen. I told her, that could be her next chapter. It is entirely up to her, how far she is willing to live her dream.

By chasing her dream, there is no need to worry about failure. What she enjoys is not the outcome but the process. All these starts from her childhood.

This is not about quitting your job now. Rather, I encourage you to explore your inner self and let it grow within you. By rekindling your childhood dream, you will know whether your life is on the right path.
