I received complains that my son has many shortcomings. Initially, I was angry and defensive about such comments. Before I fire an angry message back at the school, I realised who does not have shortcomings? I have more shortcomings than I dare to admit.
No one likes to hear about their shortcomings; it is painful and feels like a direct attack at our existence. Is there a way to soften the blow? There are many types of shortcomings. Some are more severe than the other. We are not perfect.
Our shortcomings are like stars. They are countless. What if we have a strength that outshine the stars? Imagine your strength that is like a full moon. Look up at the night sky, there are countless stars and a full moon that lights up the path. It is important to fix our shortcomings, but we must also know what our strength is. That strength makes us unique and allow us to help others. We are living in a world filled with critique. Sometimes, we must also know what makes life worth living and appreciative.
What is your strength? How can you use your strength to help others? It is okay to have countless shortcomings but have a strength that's like a moonlight that allows other to see in the darkness.
