Living Kindfully

Your Father is Worth More than a Fast Motorbike

A friend just offered me his prized motorbike at a good discount. He loves his bike. When we hang out, he would share stories from his biking adventures. I congratulated him as I thought he is upgrading thus selling the bike

He said he needed the money to pay for his father's hospital bills. The bike has treated him well, but his father is more important. If I buy the bike, he knows I will look after the bike. There will be many more bikes in the market, but he only has one father. His father probably can only spend 20 more New Years with him. Therefore, he has to do everything to make those days count.

Sometimes life will not hesitate to give us a difficult lesson. When we thought we cannot live without something, life will force us to test our belief. Relationship with our loved ones are always worth more than things. Yet, we never appreciate the relationship until life forces us to decide.

Lately I have been pondering about my goals. Money will always play an important role in my life. Money is an enabler that allows me to do many things. The true treasures is still the relationship with my family and my friends.

(For the record, I did not buy the bike as I do not have a motorcycle licence. The final hospital bill is not that bad, my friend is able to settle the bill without much issue)
