Living Kindfully

Are You Moving The Needle?

It is the long weekend in Asia, the country is celebrating Eid al-Fitr where Muslims complete a month of Ramadan fasting and would celebrate over three days with special morning prayers, family gatherings, and festive meals. Even though I am not a Muslim, I get to have a few days off.

Besides spending time with the family, a few close friends and exercise; I spend most of my time studying the deployment of OpenClaw which I hope I can implement into my business. I spend nearly 24 hours studying and experimenting with it. I see the potential, but the progress is slow. To get it live and be effective would take some time.

As I reflect the time spend, I wonder whether I have wasted my time. Am I moving the needle? In this case, the goal is to automate the business. In my 20s and 30s, I talked a big game but never deliver. I would use "I need to study more", "I need to know more" as an excuse not to take action. As such, the needle to show I am closer to my goal never moves.

Did I waste my time studying Openclaw? Probably not, as I have clear target on what I want to achieve. To prevent myself from falling into the cycle of "I need to keep studying", I have to learn by doing not by reading. 20% of my time will read, 80% of my time will learn to configure and experiment.

Whatever dreams that you are chasing, please ask whether you are moving the needle? If you are not moving the needle, consider switching task.
