31st August 2026 - Paid the school internet invoice - invoice date: 19th August 2026
20th August 2026 - The school invited me to teach every Saturday from 9 to 11am. However, I can't as I work on Saturday as well. Thought of raising funds to bring in a tutor to help the students.
2nd August 2026 - Paid Internet subscription. Brought Mr Vincent to visit the school.
31st July 2026 - Received 15 bottles of fever medicine 100ml
This page is dedicated to my journey in volunteering in the Mon Refugee School.
Why am I doing this?
- I only heard about the Mon Refugee School during a meditation retreat where one of the meditators told me that this school needed teachers. So, I decided to volunteer.
- I am attracted to groups that get little publicity and little fundings from the public. To me, these are the ones that needed help and I know I can make a difference.
- I want to give these children a future. The only way is through education.
The primary goal is to get the school to be self-sustaining. As it cannot only rely on donations. While my ultimate goal is to give these children a chance to live their full potential. In the long run, I hope these children can come back and give others a chance to live their full potential.
My Rules
- I will only provide items that are needed in school.
- Money that I received will be used to purchase items for school. Unless the donor has explicit instructions to give cash.
- All donated items are dated, catalogued and posted on this site.
- I will NOT donate any form of cash. Cash is sensitive and I do not want to have any fidelity issues in the future.
- I will NOT hold any leadership/ committee positions in the school.
- My role is just a donor and a tutor for the students.
I am committed to volunteer for the school for as long as necessary.
What are my long-term commitments?
- I raise funds for whatever that are needed in the school.
- I am committed to pay their monthly Internet expenses.
- I volunteer my time as a tutor during the weekend.
I will exit from the school when:
- The school is self-sustaining. The school could be adopted by a company, civil society or religious group or able to generate income to keep the school running.
- The leadership uses the school's dire needs to extract pity or support from the public. (I have seen too many of this, the leadership is not interested in making a change but to get free publicity and easy money.)
I look forward to the day where the school can tell me that they do not need my help anymore as it is self-sustaining. Then I know I have accomplished my mission.
