Good Advices are Always Painful
I have a huge ego, and I do not take advice easily. Yet, I know that it is important for me to listen to advice. Whenever someone give ideas or feedback on how I can improve. Deep down, I get defensive and uncomfortable. In fact, I feel a sting within myself. It is a bitter pill that I need to swallow. I grit my teeth, open my ears and I make sure I take in the lesson.
The best way to overcome the pain of advice is to improve and do better. Will the critics stop? Obviously not, as they will find other things to say. It is okay as you be improving along the way. The stinging feeling of criticism will never go away. Take the sting as part of the growing pain. The pain that reminds you that you have to improve. Use that pain!
It is not easy. I get upset at myself all the time for being useless and weak. While beating myself up, I still have to hear those words from others. The only time that criticism will stop is when we are dead.
