Living Kindfully

If Yelling Works, We will be World Champion

One of my vivid memories from my childhood are the yelling. Yelling from parents and yelling from the teachers. Occasionally there were yelling from bosses. I cannot remember the content of yelling, but I remember facial expression and the high-pitched screams.

Does yelling works? I do not know, but I doubt it is effective. Yelling is the easiest way to express our displeasure and frustration. Sometimes I do make an effort to change after enduring a yelling session.

If one person yells at me, it is probably the person's fault. If many yell at me, it is definitely my fault. I will not deny that it is mostly I am the root cause. The only lesson that I took away from years of yelling is I know it does not work. That's why I never raise my voice at my kids. Harsh words only hurt a person's feeling but they hardly will raise to their full potential.

If yelling works, we all will be world champions. There is no need for calm and open communications.
