If You Can't Clear Your Mind, Clean Your House
This morning, I took out a bunch of things to throw and recycle. Sets of working pen, scraps of recycled papers, recycle bags, socks with holes and more. This is my ritual, whenever I cannot clear my mind, I will clean the house.
By cleaning and throwing out things, I gain ideas and calm. Different people have different rituals. In this Podcast, Chris Williamson shares that he gets it by driving and washing the dishes.
Maybe there is a scientific reason, maybe there is not. What is important is the ritual works and you are effective. If you find yourself feeling cluttered, try do some household chores. The worst outcome? You still feel cluttered, but you have a cleaner house.
