Living Kindfully

Is Today Your Last Day Alive?

I read a news that a speeding car had lost control, jump a curb and hit a car which was waiting at the traffic light. Both drivers died. The death of the victim broke my heart. The victim was only 300 meters away from his mother house and he did nothing wrong. If he had done something different that changes the journey's timing, he could be still alive.

As we move on with our lives, we have to ponder whether today is our last day alive? You could be wrong 99% but one day you be right. That day will come sooner than you think.

Should we live life in fear? No, and we cannot live life in fear. We need to live life with gratitude. Appreciate the chance of having your favourite drink. Take a deep sigh as you ease into your favourite chair watching your favourite show. We should not just appreciate the moments of festive season but of all days. Our life is made up by small moments, make sure those moments are good.

It is unfair for the victim who complied with the traffic rules to die. Sadly this is life and we have no choice. This is a bitter reminder to everyone that rules are there for a reason. We only need one person to take an ill calculated risk and breaking a dozen traffic rules to destroy a young person's life.

We cannot avoid someone's stupidity to take away our life. We can only make each day count and appreciate we have been given. Today could be your last day alive.
