Living Kindfully

It is All About Ego

Today I attended a court as a witness for a civil dispute. I will not discuss the details of the case. The case itself is mainly over bruised ego. Someone feels insulted and disrespected; therefore, the person wants to make things difficult for other party.

As I was waiting for my turn as the witness. I listened to the lawyers putting their case forward. I find the argument petty and trivial. As the lawyer speaks, I find myself getting angrier and angrier. I could be doing something useful instead of waiting inside the court room.

How much time, resources and life were lost due to ego? So I decided to ask Gemini. The first reply is The Napoleonic Invasion of Russia (1812). Basically, Napoleon decided to invade Russia was because Tsar Alexander I had defied Napoleon. Therefore, Napoleon decided to punish him. Ultimately this pointless invasion has caused over 1 million deaths of soldiers and civilians.

When we reflect our actions, exactly how much are rational and logical? I think it is only a small portion. I am also guilty of letting my ego making the decisions.
