Lately, Has Anyone Ask You This?
Are you happy?
Before you answer the question. Take a few deep breaths, ask the question slowly, let the thoughts simmer and answer it.
When I first heard that question, I was quick to reply. The listener interrupted me and gave the instruction as above.
As I ponder about the question, I feel a wave of fatigue running over my body. My shoulder slouched, I feel tension in both shoulder and temple. I suddenly feel very tired and sleepy. Actually, I don't know what happiness is. I could not describe it. In fact, I feel there is a wall within myself crumbling. I cannot remember when the last time was someone care and is sincere to know whether I am happy.
I too am guilty about this, I cannot remember I have ever asked anyone whether they are happy? Most of the time, we all are wearing a mask telling the world that we are fine. Behind that mask, we all crave for care and kindness. As time passes by, the mask that we wear has become part of our face.
