My Advice to My Kids | Be Reliable
This weekend, the family has to visit my grandparents' tomb. It is an annual festival called Qing Ming where we pay our respect to our ancestors by visiting and cleaning their tomb.
We were supposed to leave house at 6am, and the kids only got ready by around 620am. This is a family event, the other family members do not mind that we are late. However, I am not happy that my kids knew about the departure time and still choose to be late. If the agreed time is at 6am, they have to be punctual. If they cannot be punctual, they cannot be reliable on other parts of life.
The fundamental ingredient of a successful person is being reliable. If a person is not reliable, they will not be able to shoulder large responsibilities. We cannot predict how the world will unfolds and new technology will be developed. We can be sure that the need for a responsible and reliable person is always in demand. It is only individuals who are reliable will get things done. It is also the same group of people will have the larger allocation of resources.
A good education is merely a tool for a person to utilise. Being reliable is the core ingredient to determine a person's success in life.
