My Son's Friend Just Killed Himself
My son's friend just killed himself. He was only 21 years old. My son knew him since high school days. My son is distraught from the news. This friend introduced obstacle racing to him. Given that my son is socially awkward, he really cherished this friendship. He was a popular student; he has multiple interests from culinary to Ninja Warrior.
According to the family, this person did not want to die but he kept hearing voices inside his head. Sadly, the voices won.
I do not want to speculate what goes on in the person's head. I just want to stress that:
- No one is really alone. If you need help, help is always available.
- A person who is happy or active may have an inner war that nobody knows.
- It is not your fault. Bad things happen, do not live the rest of your life feeling remorse because you did not do anything to prevent the tragedy.
- Live life to your best ability. We never know when our last goodbye is.
- Take the effort to send that message or make the call. It can make a difference.
- Have a mission in life. It could be skill development, business building etc. Make every day count.
