Living Kindfully

No One Cares About Us and It is Not Their Fault

There was a stage of my life where I would confide my problems to a friend. I was looking for emotional support or just a sounding board. There were many times that I found this person not paying attention to what I was saying. He is distracted. Obviously, I was a bit upset, but I accept it.

I soon realised that I am not being fair to this person. He too has his own problem and here I am pouring all my negative emotions on him. He has enough problems in his hand; he does not need more from me. It is a bitter lesson but a lesson that I have to learn. I have no rights to expect other parties to pay attention and offer me a solution.

Everyone is fighting their own internal war. The best way to help them is not to burden them anymore. Then are we doomed to fight our own war ourselves? Yes and no. Yes. It is our private war; we can only fight it and win it ourselves. No. There is a type of friends who will never offer you any help. They see you as who you are, whenever you all meet up there is always laughter. They will not judge your failure and will not admire your success. These friends only want you to being you.

Being with them, they will not utter a word of support. There is no need to pretend. You can leave your success and failure at the door. Who are you when you are stripped from your failures and success?

Maybe the support we all need is not a solution to our problems but a place where we can be who we are.
