Living Kindfully

The more I Throw The More Stuffs I have

Just before the Lunar New year, I did some quick cleaning. I throw out some unused plastic containers, clothes and books. After throwing out the stuffs, it felt really good. Both the house and I feel lighter.

After 3 days I look back at the space that I have emptied, I cannot find that empty space anymore. It felt as if I have not thrown out anything. Throwing things out is an on-going process, and we must maintain the discipline to keep the space empty.

At this point, the more things I throw the more stuffs I have. When we thought we have become wiser, our newfound wisdom does not sustain. The ingrained prejudice and ignorance quickly cloud back our mind. That's why we have to keep working on ourselves.

Coming back to the space that I thought I have cleared, the space is filled with things that I think I might need again. By holding the things in my hand, I have to ask myself whether I need it? The action of throwing something out may seem mundane and simple, but our thoughts on whether to keep or throw, tells us who we are.
