Living Kindfully

When a System Bug becomes a Function

In an early part of my career, our company released a major patch for an ERP system. As soon as the patch was released, we received loads of support tickets saying that they have lost an important program function. We dig deeper into the codes and found out that the missing function is actually a system bug. The management and legal department had an emergency meeting and agreed to reinstate the bug but with system checking.

The world is not perfect, therefore there are many "bugs" in it. It is really up to us to find the bugs and see whether we can make it into our life's function. I am not asking you to do anything illegal, but something that give yourself an advantage.

Children from wealthy family could get private tutor, therefore their grades are statistically better than children who could not afford private tuition. Is this morally wrong? No. Is this unfair? Maybe. I have no solution to this imbalance, but this is our reality.

Before you scream this is unfair! Accept that life is unfair. Look around and see how you can exploit a bug and give yourself an advantage
