You Can Have Nice Things But
Tonight is an important night, I am buying dinner for my parents, my sister's family and my family. The last time I did it was five months ago. There is no celebration, but I wanted to buy something nice for the family.
I know my parents love going to that restaurant. They have been talking about that restaurant no less than 10 times since our last visit. After digging deep into my pocket, we finally can afford the meal.
Someone did ask why I am willing to blow a large amount of money on one dinner? The anticipation has been building for the last five months; therefore, the time is right. Everyone enjoyed the first dinner, that's why they kept talking about it. That dinner has become memories for everyone.
If I can afford it, will I do it more frequently? No. When luxury becomes a necessity, the luxury losses its meaning. That luxury becomes entitlement. Therefore, I draw a line between luxury and necessity.
I am not saying we cannot enjoy the fruits of our success. Instead, we have to be mindful that too much comfort can dull our drive to do more. Remember, your success is not overnight, but your failure is also not overnight. Enjoy your success, be vigilant and be ready to work harder.
